I was actually given a computer when i visited my dentist the other day. They lease their machines for 3 years and get a new one when it lapses, so the old one was given to me since he knows that i am fixing them and giving away computers to people.

The computer is made by HP. Has an Asus p4SD-LA motherboard (478). P4 2,60Ghz (800fsb/512mb cache)  768MB PC3200 memory. Integrated graphics and a 40GB that i used my hammer on.  It also came with a full license of XP Pro.

While cleaning it out etc, i found a Celeron D 330 (2,66Mhz) in my cpu bin.
The motherboard sees it, but it asks for a new bios which i am going to flash this weekend.

Which of the CPU's are faster?  If the performance is the same, which are cooler? The fan that came with the computer doesn't look that great so.

I would think the P4 would be faster having 800fsb and HT.

The Celeron has 533fsb and no HT

Those are some great links Elf Smiley Thanks. That was the information i was looking for!

Seems that the Celeron D is based on Prescott (0.09 micron) and the P4 is Northwood.(0.13)

The Celeron D does have SSE3 which the P4 do not, but is a tad hotter than the P4

I guess SSE3 isn't enough of a reason to use the Celeron?

Your welcome. Smiley The cpu world site has lots of info.

Do you have any software that utilize SSE3?

It will probably just be a gpos computer that i am giving away to someone, so i am not sure if SSE3 makes any difference. Probably not Smiley
