pig...errr. swine.. um... apocaly... uh...pandemic?
« on: April 27, 2009, 12:55:00 PM »
Anyone following this lately?

I wonder whats next. We had avian flu, now pig-flu so i guess the next thing is that flying pigs flu  :brrrr:

No outbreak here so far, and the gov here has 1,4 million doses of treatment ready so i guess we're pretty safe still.

I heard there was a possible outbreak in Australia and Canada?

I was a bit quick. Since my last post, there has been an outbreak in Denmark and now possibly on the west coast of Norway.

this virus seems to travel faster than air.  :brrrr: :brrrr: :brrrr:

Scary stuff. Correction about the Norwegian incident. Doesn't seem the person had it. The denmark case is still pending.

Apparently there are three "known cases" in Canada and a few people
with flu like symptoms are being monitored. All these people have
recently been to mexico. None of these people are in grave danger at present.

Soon after reading there was a swine flu case in New Zealand, three people have flu like symptoms in my state!  :brrrr: :brrrr: :brrrr:
A doctor said on the news "At the moment these three people are not particularly sick and I think the likelihood of them having swine flu is very low." The results of the three suspected cases will be known tomorrow.

The World Health Organization has raised the pandemic level to 5. Level 6 is where black helicopters starts shooting at everything that moves.

Do they know something that we don't? It doesn't seem like many are affected, and i am not sure about the mortality rate either.

No cases confirmed up here yet. Denmark might have one case. Germany has one confirmed case.  Hmm. Is this a non-event?

Not cases confirmed in Australia. There are plenty of people getting tested but no cases yet.

We have had our first case in Australia.
Quote
A woman had contracted the disease in late April while overseas and had recovered before returning to Australia. The strain of the flu has been identified in the sample but at a very low count

No cases here still, but they're anticipating one any moment now. We've got 1,4 mill doses of tamiflu and more on order so they say that we're well prepared.

The amount of infected keeps rising. Seems like a repeat of the 1918 pandemic where it showed up mild to begin with in 1917 before going aggressive the next year.

The news last night said there are 233 cases in Canada and one related death.
The person that died had other health issues as well.
