Autumn

The weather is cooling down here as we are getting ready for winter. We had 1.5 week of nice weather in the first week of July, and after that we have had rain every single day up until yesterday. The clouds are forming again now so i am expecting another rainfall tonight.
We got nothing done in the yard due to the rain. Our deck still lacks railing, and i think we have spent a total of 2 hours on the deck this summer so no loss. I bought a new coal grill in June, it's been used once, and even then it was raining.
Jette is now completing the paint on the stairs as we speak, and i am in a few minutes starting on washing the panel on the roof for our future room for "Nathalie" (Not-ali-eh silent h). Jette just got a tiny bump on her stomach, so people still look at me when we say we are expecting
We have ordered a new wardrobe installation in our house entry room (not sure what it's called) and 16 square meters of new tiles for that room and the inner room so we are going to rip up the entire floor again here next weekend to replace the tiling that is now coming up from the floor. We have laminate floors there now but the tiles underneath have cracked and come loose so it's not comfortable to walk there now. So thats where the days go, fixing the house before Nathalie comes to the world somewhere around 14th of January when she's expected.
My computing gear has slowly but surely been reduced and replaced with music gear in the off hours, so hopefully the music forum will see a lot of action this coming winter.
We got 1 week in Crete which was very nice, very expensive (2K cad/aud) but very nice. 28 degrees and sun every single day. I will make a little thread about that with some pictures when things are calming down a bit
I am planning a little Autumn competition in a few weeks where more fighting will ensue for a price of 1 Kilo of chocolate

So, got my Korg Micro X synthesizer (picture in the music section) today which i am just itching to try.
Today we're starting to rip up the floor downstairs to replace the tiles. The laminate floor a couple of years ago was badly done, so we're going to remove it and the tiles underneath before Monday morning when a tile-guy is coming to lay the new ones. We're also removing the old wardrobe/cabinet thing that was installed when the house was built, so a guy is coming to install a new one for us after the tiles are done. Then there is finishing up the roof in the second floor which we have started to paint. Whew.
Tomorrow we're going to look at a caravan that we might sign on. With "Nathalie" coming in January, we're going to spend the vacations here in Norway during summer instead.
Pictures will of course be posted when/if we sign

No pictures yet, they'll come a bit later.
We have started to rip up all the old tiles downstairs, so now we have a 2mm layer of fine flour like dust in our whole house. Computers, shelves, even my toothbrush had to be rinsed well before use this morning.
My computers are totally clogged so i am typing this from work until we are finished and start to clean the house.

A little girl, that is so great.
Glad everything is progressing nicely.
Another Janurary baby, Capricorns rule!
The summer here was crappy, totally too soggy.
but the fall so far has been fantastic.
we did have frost a couple of times at the pond last week, but the days were very nice and warm.
We are heading out for the Pond again tomorrow a.m. Back the 4th of October.
I can totally understand your "dust problem". We have places at the pond where the topsoil has been removed, exposing a sand that is as fine as powder. When the wind blows it gets into everything, everywhere. Inside the camper, on the dishes, everything. not too nice.
Sounds like a huge job for you guys but i think you will be pleased with the results. and of course we want pictures.

The dust cleanup has started, but i am thinking it will take weeks before everything is back to normal here. The tile guy almost finished today, but had to quit at 22:00 since it was too cold for the tiles to be placed down (-5C outside). He will come back tomorrow morning at noon when the sun has done it's thing to finish up.
Music is coming, but my new synth still has a 3 mm layer of dust on it :-/ I haven't had any time whatsoever to even think about playing it.

-5c.....a little chilly
too soon for that, but we are suppose to get a couple of days
of rain and snow mix, next week.
I am really not ready for winter. The weather has been the pits all spring, summer and fall except for three glorious weeks in september and now the S word is mentioned in the weather report.

Still cold here. Had three days with -6C. Snow has come not too far from here and it seems to be staying. Winter will come early this year it seems, probably due to the lack of sunspots in the past year. When that happens, the winter after tends to historically become one of the coldest ever so i am buying extra wood for heating this winter next week.
Our tileguy is taking his time by not showing up for 3 days, so we haven't gotten much further. The tiles themselves are finished, just the "goo" around them that needs to be done which will start tomorrow. We'll start painting that room on Monday when thats finished and get three coats of paint on the walls before Friday when our wardrobe guy comes and installs the doors.
We bought 48 square meters of laminate oak floor yesterday. Had to drive 150 km to get it in weather i've never even seen before here. If you've seen the movie "The Perfect Storm" Thats the kind of rain we had yesterday.
My immediate family has risen to the occasion and have been working furiously to help us get things finished. They've seen that both me and Jeanette are quite worn out and are doing the best they can to spare us. Me thinks they'll get something extra for christmas this year.
Jette is starting to show a belly these days too, and together with the normal "growing pains" we are trying to save her from doing anything much, although thats not easy to say the least.
Got 20 minutes on my synth today, the result is in the music forum. The dust is still all over my office. An electrician is coming over next weekend to re-wire most of the house so we'll have to be more or less finished with the cleaning before he arrives. This weekend, me and Jette will evacuate the premises for a weekend in Sweden, but i'll try to come online for a chat. It's soon time for a little competition again

Autumn is a good 5 months away for me.
H-kon, you are doing a lot of work to your house.
All I have done is move the computers out of the 3rd bedroom to downstairs, reassemble the cot and donate a lot of stuff that we don't use to charity.

I wish it wasn't needed, but the old tiles cracked under our feet to the point that we couldn't open the bathroom door. The first laminate floor we put down a few years ago was not good together with shoddy work that broke parts of it due to stress.
Our stairs have been fixed so that it's safer to walk on etc. Lots of stuff that we need to do, not because we like redecorating.
Our tile guy finished up today so now i am going to wash off the excess goo before i go to bed

Keyword for this week: Paint.
We've been painting all week. Have one coat left downstairs and some details left in the 2nd floor. Next week we're starting in my office, same deal there. Paint the panel (wall/ceiling) and put some new floors down.
Some people are coming over this weekend to rewire our electricity while a couple of people are checking and fixing our insulation. Haven't yet got confirmation that they're coming, but with -10c outside during the evening, it's sorely needed.
Taking a break today. I am working until 18:30 and after that it's IKEA time to get a lot of stuff thats going inside the wardrobe this weekend.

We're just about finished with most of the things. We considered painting the rest of the second floor but none of us has the energy to do it until next year. Just some cleaning left before we can get on with other important things, like spending time on the forums
Music has of course halted, but i have started to rebuild my "studio" aka lots of junk
I'll dig out the digicam and take some pictures of how things look now

A few pictures of what we've done. The camera refused to take more pictures which means we'll have to service it sigh:
Our entry. It used to be just panel on the walls, ceramic brownish tiles and a 15 year old wardrobe. Everything is new here:
Different angle:
Our new staircase:
You can see a glimpse of our new floor on the this picture.
