We have been watching the floods in Australia on the news with
disbelief. Hoping that you and your family are not near the affected area, Elf.

The weather has been pretty wild all over the world for the past 12 months. I can deal with the cold, but water? man. I am glad we don't have such large rivers over here.

Sorry for the late reply.  :sorry:

My family and myself are ok. The major floods are in different states, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Tasmania has had some minor flooding but nowhere near when I live.

Now i am reading that the rain has come to Tasmania - I am starting to get worried.

My city where meant to have 3 days of heavy rain last week but only got light rain over the 3 days. The weekend's weather was fine and this week is forcast for mainly fine weather with light rain on the weekend.

I am glad that you're not affected by it personally. :)

It looks like it is going to take a long time before everything is back to normal. Are the floods retreating?

The floods in Queensland and parts of New South Wales are retreating. Some of the floods in Victoria have yet to peek.

Oh man. those pictures. It's going to take years before things are back to normal.  The insurance companies must be going bankrupt.

Looks to be hard year in Australia with the Yasi cyclone/hurricane and all. I just cannot imagine how that must have been to experience. wow.
Our news just have 1 min summaries which doesn't tell the story at all. Looks like foreign news services are much better at telling the story.

I hate our media over here. No i don't care what (insert norwegian celebrity) wears at some event.

They said on the news that cyclone Yasi was the 3rd out of a possible 6 this cyclones season. They are tracking another one now that formed in the in the same area as Yasi but doesn't appear to be as strong. People that stayed in their homes told of the constant howling of the wind for about 8 hours with about 1 hour break in the middle.

I am glad that I live to far south to be affected by cyclones.

Given the recent events in your country, maybe our media is begenning to sensationalize
a little.  ::)   Glad the fires are under control.  :)
