Mini-LAN
« on: December 18, 2007, 11:17:16 AM »
Between X-mas and New years eve, we're planning to host a little mini-lan at home (26th-29th)  The current game list is as follows:

1nsane
Unreal Tournament 99
BF-1942
Desertcombat 0.8
Soldiers of Fortune
Soldiers of Fortune II

None of these games require any state of the art hardware. I'll even say that if your PC is newer than 5 years, you will be able to join us :) We're 3-4 that will play locally.

I am planning on putting up a server for some of the games now that i have 1500kb up rate

IP information etc will be posted later :)

We have narrowed it down to host the LAN on Thursday the 27th more or less from the morning to the wee hours on Friday :)

Just need to setup a smoothwall and get a server going before IP info is posted.

The games I have the list are:
Unreal Tournament, Soldiers of Fortune & Soldiers of Fortune II.

Unfortunately I am still on last centuries technology (dial up)  :'(
I hope to get broadband next year so maybe then.

Didn't you try the last time we had a little LAN going?

I think UT99 can be dial up optimized. We should do a ping test :)

Check your PM

We will start the mini-lan in about 6-7 hours. IP info will be posted when we're up.

We have a 1,5MB line so we can support quite a few. I hope ping is decent. IIRC, UT99 could have a 400 ping and still be very playable.

I had a practice round of Quake III Arena and boy, the game still delivers.

I don't think I can attend. At 3pm your time it should be 1am here, too late.

Well, the LAN turned out decent enough. We had some networking problems with my ISP having given me too many active IP's so we could not get an external server going.  It was me, Mystic and Jette mostly and we also had some problems with her computer crashing quite a bit (bad ram i suspect)

With that said, we will try again soon when i am able to host a game during our morning hours so that US/CAN entries can join as well.
