Almost back online.
« on: September 23, 2011, 02:51:37 PM »
Just a little post to let you know that i've settled in and waiting for broadband. I am currently on a mobile broadband connection with a low quota until i get my VDSL (30mbit down/5 up) which might take 4-5 weeks.

Moved in to an older home built in 1954 that i got pretty cheap (actually, it was a steal). It's 138 m2 divided into three floors, or two with a cellar. A lot has been done on the inside, including new wiring, new kitchen, living room, the works in the 1st floor, but  not so much on the outside (1954 called and want their house back) . My lot is about 750 m2, a nice big yard with some old trees and berry bushes. A lot of space for Nathalie to use.  Got a new roof on it, but needs new windows and doors and a new bathroom which i will fix down the road. Not sure if you've seen those, but my outside panel consist of asbestos panel which is now 60 years old and still dry :-D (i opened up and checked)
Pictures will come, i got none now as this house was sold before the camera man at the realtor's office managed to take pictures for the seller.

So, hope you are still here when i get my DSL going again :-)

Can't speak for anyone else, but I am/will be here.  :)

House and grounds sound great, and a great future project when you  have the time.
Older properties sometimes have  wonderful character
Look fwd. to photos.

I am having a problem with posting my photos on the forum.
will ask Doc about it on the weekend.

I agree. I love this house. Sure, there are lots of things to do, but it's by far as much as the house i lived in 2 years ago and that was built in 1994.

The DSL called me today and told me i would get access on 2nd of November. Yeah, the phone centrals around Oslo are just crammed these days.

Hopefully  this Christmas will see us all having a little more peace and contentment.
(One can only hope).  :)

Friday night and pizza, maybe a beer to go with it would be nice tonight.

I will still be here :)

Looking forward to the pictures. Sounds like nice house with some updated features.

Your house sounds similar to mine. Mine was built in 1950, has the original roof and has had most of the windows replaced. The wiring was replaced about 12 years ago and had some plumbing done. My lot is about 660m2 and the fences need replacing. I am not sure if it has asbestos in it as in we started using asbestos in Australia from the 1950's.

I dug out my camera the other day and the big lens. It has been very foggy for a while now so i am taking some pictures when it clears up :-) The mist is attaching itself to the lens, and i dont have the umbrella option for it.

I (got friends who did the most) have renovated much of the second floor now. Got Nathalie's room perfect, just need some details done on my bedroom, and the last bedroom is for me to fix when i feel i get the urge. Got most of what i need to get that done already.
An electrician rewired the second floor and tore down the old stuff, so now its just the 3 cables left in the basement to replace and a few roof lamps to install and it's done. Bathroom is the last room, but it's working still so i got no rush. Found a great deal on windows and doors, so depending on how the next month go, i will order them in late December to have them delivered in February.

I've had some problems with my connection, it's very intermittent. Got sent a new modem today, and it turns out that the installer at the sentral did something wrong, but it will take up to 4 weeks to fix it sigh (lease time for the guy to get inside).

It works pretty good sometimes though, but.. my luck.

After 15th of December, there really isn't more on my plate for things i need to get done, except for finding a new job, but there is little now until January so, we'll see :-) So thats where i kill the year 2011 for myself and start doing the things there that have been planned for ages :-)

You have been busy indeed.
sounds like things are falling into place. look fwd. to photos.  :)

Your thorny things sound nasty. We had a few Hawthorn trees on the property. They
have very long thorns on them and are deadly to bare feet and arms, so we got rid of them.

I will lift a glass and join you in killing this year. Onward and upward!  :drunka:

Thank you :-)

The telco guy came yesterday and my internet connection seems to work nicely now. It took quite a lot of phonecalls to get them to fix it, and i am not quite sure what kind of plan they have put me on, but i do get 30/5 when i test it.  Oh well. Looks like its soon time to decorate in here yet again :) I'll do the upgrades after x-mas :)
