Just wondering what people are buying these days. I have gone from full AMD to full Intel in less than a year.

I really don't have a preference, i am buying what i think meets my requirements at the right price when i need it.

The last system I brought a few months ago was a Intel. Before that I had an AMD for 3 years.

I don't have a preference, I buy which ever is the better product at what I can afford.

Same as you guys.. I discovered that most of the comps I have suddenly all ran Intel.. Not really on purpose, but the best deals out there are Intel products Smiley Also, I used to have a lot of ATI GPUs, now most are Nvidia..

I never had ATI cards, only Nvidia. Mainly because ATI had bad drivers a few years ago. But now reading the forums Nvidia isn't doing very well with Vista.

I recently got a budget ATI X1550 for my fileserver (cheapest pci-e i could find) and i cannot say that the drivers have improved. Image is jittery at anything over 1280x
Linux support is anything but great also.

my very "own" computer. Not sure what it will be, but something good.
I do not know a lot about puters, so will have to consult with my expert.
I love to play arcade games,  so something with decent power. And, my
kingdom for high speed. lol

I think i am an impulse buyer. I do the research but usually end up with something i never thought about originally.

But a Core 2 Quad is next on the list of "must haves".

At a local store here.

ATI
512MB HD4670 is $170AU (762 NOK)
512MB 4870 is $450AU (2,018 NOK)
1GB 4870 is $579AU (2,597 NOK)

Nvidia
512MB/1GB 9500GT $125AU (560 NOK)
1GB 9600GT $258AU (1,157 NOK)
896MB Geforce GTX260 $580AU (2,601 NOK)

I think I will shop around. This store is looking rather expensive.

I know I want to, and I've even convinced him. Trouble is, his pump for the watercooling has decided to end its life. It's still running, but barelly pumping water. He has ordered a new pump, and he said as soon as he gets it, he'll run seti for a few days Smiley

I am pretty content with my hardware, although i might do an upgrade late next year if i can find somethign cheap enough.

I did treat myself with a new monitor. A 32 inch to be exact thats right now hanging on my wall.

I just need a receiver and a decent soundcard for my gutars and i will be all set on my "studio".
