Hockey! My country beats your country!
« on: May 06, 2008, 11:44:35 AM »

Anyone watching the World Championship in Hockey? Surely you Canucks must?

Norway does not have a great history in Hockey, but at least we managed to tie Finland to 2-2, although they scored 2 minutes into sudden death.

We have never won over them though so no surprise :)

We lost 1-5 to Slovakia, and we're facing Germany on Thursday which is a game we must win to avoid the relegation matches we usually play in.

I really don't watch it much or follow but it's a big topic on the news and hard to avoid hearing about it at times.

Well, we needed to beat Germany yesterday to advance to the quarter finals. We won 3-2 which has been dubbed "Miracle on Ice II".

We're facing Canada tonight in 10 hours :)

A respectable 2-1 loss for Norway where the winning goal came 16 minutes in the third period.

It's Latvia for us on Sunday, then the US on Monday.

A bit late to update this topic, but we did qualify for the first time to the quarter finals where you canucks beat us 8-2 in the end. I think one of your NHL stars makes more than the entire league on norway :D
