This might be server related here. Not sure. there seems to be a limit on image size built in here which i haven't found yet. Maybe Doc knows?

Control Panel > Features and Options > Basic features > Max height of posted pictures (0 = disable)_____________
                                                                             Max width of posted pictures (0 = disable)_____________
